Artist Phil Dickson paints views and events that relate to past and current moments in time.

Of his painting The Daytrippers' Return the artist writes: The Days Bay ferry, Duchess, coming into its berth having returned from Eastbourne with a boat load of people who have enjoyed a day at the bay. Queens Wharf lies behind and tied up at the outer T is the Union Steam Ship Comapny's Lyttleton ferry, Rotomahana in the last years of her active service during the first decade of the twentieth century.
