The aim of the Academy of Fine Arts is to facilitate a range of quality exhibitions and every effort is made to accommodate the needs of our exhibitors. The Academy offers a variety of spaces and packages for exhibitions of any size.

As an exhibition space the Academy Galleries are unequalled in Wellington.

There are several ways you can use the Academy Galleries...

 

We often have people looking for others to share a space with and you may be able to share costs by joining with other artists in a partnered or group show. We may also be able to help with a combination rental/commission package and discounts for community groups etc.

The Academy will endeavour to fit your preferred dates into our calendar however our own Academy Exhibitions and Academy members take priority over other bookings. Academy Members may also apply for a place in the official Academy Solo exhibitions.

EXHIBITING AT THE ACADEMY

Artists are invited to submit their exhibition proposals to the Academy office, however as there are only limited opportunities for non members to exhibit it is advised to book well in advance.

Experience has shown that a minimum of a week works best in terms of public interest and exhibitors are encouraged to include at least one weekend in their hire for maximum impact.

Note that Academy members enjoy generous discounts to the

rental rates and one of the lowest commission rates in the country.

A GUIDE TO EXHIBITION HIRE RATES FOR NON MEMBERS:

The venue rent includes one evening function. 

All charges shown are GST exclusive: 

 Gallery One, (75 sq.m 22 linear m), [Not available for separate hire - see the Academy Shop] 

 Gallery Three, (100 sq.m 42 linear m)

• Non Members: $2,082.50 per week, or $350 per day for less than a week.

• plus a $300 refundable bond.

 Gallery Two, (370 sq.m 80 linear m)

• Non Members: $5,652.50 per week or $950 per day for less than a week.

• plus a $500 refundable bond.

 Hire of Galleries Two and Three together:

• Non Members: $8,925 per week or $1,500 per day for less than a week

• plus a $500 refundable bond.

Exhibition bookings are confirmed by the payment of a 10% non-refundable deposit, with the balance payable five days before the exhibition commences.
