Academy Collection

The New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts was largely set up in 1882 to provide a vehicle for a National art Collection. In the years to 1967 over 500 works of art were gifted to the Nation.

Periodically during the intervening years the Academy has collected works again to form the basis of a new collection.

This is currently quite small but the Academy has been setting aside money from exhibition income toward the purchasing of artworks that may in time come to represent a significant collection.
