The Gallery
The Academy Galleries in the historic Wharf Offices building at 1 Queens Wharf were opened in February 2000 by the Honourable Governor General Sir Michael Hardie Boys.

Designed by Herriot+Melluish the award winning galleries are spacious and well lit, creating versatile spaces for exhibitions and functions. They have a state of the art sound system, eftpos and kitchen facilities. |

The gallery is a versatile space with three separate gallery spaces and an annexe off Gallery Two, so exhibitions of any size can be catered for. Several of the walls are moveable to create a variety of layouts and interesting spaces. |

There is also a small meeting area and members lounge which includes a small library of art books and magazines. The Academy generally has four open exhibitions annually, these are selected exhibitions, artists can submit up to three works. Members can also apply for a space in one of two solo shows where 10 -12 artists each exhibit a wider range of their work. The Academy program includes other curated exhibitions and a summer 'Cash and Carry' event. |

The galleries are also extensively used by groups and individuals who take advantage of competitive rates and hire the galleries for their own exhibitions.The Galleries can be hired for exhibitions in several configurations from small solo shows in Gallery One, to large exhibitions in all three spaces. |

The galleries are open 10am – 5pm daily
