The Da Vinci Machines exhibition

The Academy was thrilled to be the Wellington host for the Leonardo da Vinci Machines Exhibition, which featured models of the great artist's mechanical inventions. This was the largest exhibition undertaken by the Academy in recent years.

The exhibition ran from 8 November 2008 to 15 February 2009 with a record-breaking visit of over 29,000 people, including 3,000 school children. On peak days we had over 900 people through the galleries.

It was a great hit with school groups. Specially trained educators were sourced by the Academy with assistance from MITO, which ensured the children enjoyed a fun learning experience.

One of the big days for the exhibition was Leonardo's Picnic on January 17th which saw craft stalls and Da Vinci themed events including a birdman competition, live music and a 'Last Supper' Vignette. more..>
